Youth Access to Tobacco Project (SYNAR)
Developed to monitor the levels of youth access to tobacco products in the retail setting through nationwide compliance checks, the project has provided substantial additional benefits through increases in the awareness and compliance of tobacco merchants. The program has been successful in reducing the access of underage youth to purchasing tobacco products in retail establishments in Barnwell County.

RED Ribbon Campaign

The Axis I Center supports activities during Red Ribbon Celebrations, a national campaign engaging youth and adults in pledging to be substance-free. Red Ribbon Week is observed October 23-31 of each year.

The Great American Smokeout

In November, the Axis I Center supports activities throughout Barnwell County. The Great American Smokeout  is the national day for those who are tobacco-free to pledge to continue living a tobacco-free life and those who are currently using tobacco agree to quit.

For 2016, Barnwell County participated in the “Quit Cold Turkey” raffle. Everyone who signed a Tobacco-Free Pledge had their names entered in to a raffle to win a free turkey. These turkeys were donated by Barnwell Walmart and IGA.
